The Party Crasher
"Not sure if anyone’s said this to you before…" she ventures "But you look like Katy Perry…with better bone structure."

Not even the snow flurries could manage to stop me in my tracks this week. Too many friends to catch-up with before Christmas and far too little time!

I promised myself at least one night in this week (I usually like at least one night in to flick through Grazia and watch my Curb Your Enthusiasm box set), but the reality is I need all the weekday nights I can muster in the run-up to the 25th.

The theme this week has definitely been treating myself to classic films at the BFI on London’s South Bank – and what better way to celebrate the return of The Red Shoes on the big screen then with my friend Heather, whose heart beat races to ballet at the same rate as mine.

For those who’ve never seen the 1948 classic, I thoroughly recommend it, not least for the phenomenal costumes that Moira Shearer wears throughout (nobody accessorises like 1950s Hollywood).

Speaking of which, her tiny red ballet shoes are currently on loan to the BFI from Martin Scorsese and currently preside in their mezzanine gallery – Heather and I were determined to get out picture with them, even if we did look like a couple of Japanese tourists at the Tower of London.

Come Thursday and I was battling through the snow flurries back at BFI once again – this time to see The Wizard Of Oz on the big screen. In my opinion, Christmas just isn’t Christmas without Judy Garland. As I took my seat, I looked at all the little tots in the front few rows, squirming in their seats and couldn’t help but feel jealous that they were seeing it for the first time.

It certainly has been a week of culture - on Wednesday I was invited to the opening night of Trafalgar Studios new production A Daughter’s a Daughter, written by Agatha Christie and transporting us to the family trials-and-tribulations of post-war Britain.

I think I have a sickness - within 20 minutes I found myself mesmerised by Honeysuckle Weeks’ assortment of shoes and tea-dresses. Yes, you’ve guessed it – nobody accessorises like 1940s London…

This looks amazing! Can't wait to read more and find out where THE places are to go in London!
