The Party Crasher
"Not sure if anyone’s said this to you before…" she ventures "But you look like Katy Perry…with better bone structure."
By Kat Lister
“Mummy, mummy” a young girl tugs at her mother’s coat sleeve, “that woman over there is dressed like a leopard!”
“Oh my god, Kat” my friend Esther simultaneously tugs at my (leopard print) coat sleeve. “I think that’s the most amazing thing anyone’s ever said about you.”
She’s right. It is the most amazing thing (“apart from the time that woman in Rome thought I was wearing Chanel when I was actually wearing £9.99 Hennes” I remind her). It’s so close to Christmas I can actually smell the stuffed turkey, which is why Esther and I have made our merry way to the Natural History Museum to ice skate in sub-zero temperatures and listen to Magic FM on loop as we gradually lose feeling in all ten of our fingers.
When I rock up at South Kensington in my Arctic hat, Esther is first to comment that I look like a sheep. Kudos to my twisted fashion sense, I take that as a compliment.
Before I even step on the ice, my mum phones me to remind me not to get my fingers cut off – like I’d actually purposefully lay my hand down on the ice and let some over enthusiastic teenager splice one off to the tune of Take That’s ‘Patience’. Suffice to say, I didn’t get my fingers sliced off, and much to Esther’s delight she didn’t fall over. Instead, we lap round the rink singing along with Gary Barlow and soak in the winter wonderland around us.
Next stop is drinks on Carnaby Street with 2010’s 'Ones to Watch' Goldheart Assembly. Okay, my boyfriend may manage them, but that’s not why I’m saying nice things about them, they’re really rather good – if you like Fleet Foxes you’ll love these guys. Don’t believe me? Check out their MySpace here.As we wander down Carnaby Street (and check out the amazing Christmas decorations – in particular that bright pink Reindeer. I want one for my garden!) and wander into the pub I realise that both my boyfriend and the band are completely mullered on mulled wine. Which leaves me only one thing to do…Get mullered!

This looks amazing! Can't wait to read more and find out where THE places are to go in London!
